The Avent Techs is a Scam Operation by Eddie Abdalla: AV Techs Beware!

Here is a copy of the latest email I received about what has happened. The following message is not mine but from a fellow free lancer. I’ll omit too much personal info but contact me if you need more info. I do have phone numbers and emails of attorneys and people involved.

Hi fellow former TCS folks, As you probably know, TCS is bankrupt and apparently no one is going to honor our invoices (I am owed $1250.00). After a ring-a-round the emails game of tag today (text from Eddie saying to send invoices-did that saying he would not pay, and a subsequent text to Eddie which is so far unanswered-he said he would get back to me after talking to his lawyer), I am coming to the conclusion that it is likely we may never be paid. I believe the only recourse that we have, short of a lawsuit, is to potentially withhold our labor until this matter is resolved. (Eddie and others have taken jobs at The AVent techs. But this will stand a much better chance if we act together. Between the all of us, we may have 20-30 contacts and that may matter. I look forward to any thoughts you all may have.

Eddie Abdalla is Deceiving more Technicians – BEWARE

Guest Post by Cody Lopez

The AV Tech world is small. I consider my fellow technicians my brothers and sisters. I’m not gonna sit back and watch anyone else get screwed over by Eddie fucking Abdalla.

I’m sharing this email I got from him. PLEASE READ IT.

Greetings to all of The AVent Techs team,

This email is being sent to you to share some important information regarding The AVent Techs.   In a few moments, you’ll receive an email from Mika Read, the COO and one of the shareholders of The AVent Techs, Inc., stating that you are no longer employed by the company.  No need to panic, as that letter is required by law to be sent to all of you, because she and Mike Fuller, the other shareholder of The AVent Techs Inc., have sold the company to new owners.  Effective immediately, you will now be employees of The AVent Techs, LLC.  There is no need for you to fill out paperwork again or to reregister with us as all your records have been transferred to the new entity.  You will still receive your W2 or 1099 from The AVent Techs, Inc. for all the work you performed for that entity in 2016 and if you get called for work from The AVent Techs, LLC between now and the end of this year, then you’ll also receive a W2 or 1099 from that entity as well.

In regards to payroll payments that may be owed to you, please be aware that if you worked for The AVent Techs, Inc. prior to Aug 22nd, then you were sent your last payment from that entity on Aug 26th.  If you worked Aug 22nd onward, then payment for that work will be paid by The AVent Techs, LLC on our next payroll run, which will be Sept 9th.  There will be no lapse in scheduled payments. If you were never paid by The AVent Techs, Inc., for work competed, this is because you did not submit paperwork. When you do, The AVent Techs, LLC will process your payment.

The AVent Techs, LLC has also switched payroll companies from Paychex to Insperity.  You’ll still have the ability to access your payroll records thru the Paychex web portal for all payments made to you prior to Aug 27th.  You’ll also have the ability to access your payroll records thru Insperity’s web portal, but you won’t have the ability to do that until the next time you are paid.  If you would like assistance on how to access the Insperity payroll portal, you can email Annie Cesta in our office at this same email address and she will be happy to assist you in getting set up for the Insperity portal.

If you live in one of the few states that hadn’t been set up on the Paychex payroll system, please note that effective Sept 9th, all technicians nationwide will be processed through Insperity. This means you will now be a part-time employee and all required taxes will be withheld from your paycheck.  Direct deposit will also be available now for all those who didn’t have access to it before. As an employee you will receive a W2 at the beginning of next year. If you wish to stay 1099, you may do so, but only if you operate as a business with a license and general liability insurance. If you do not have these documents and will not work as W2, unfortunately we have to ask that you no longer accept work from us.  If you have questions regarding the direct deposit option or our new payroll system with Insperity, please feel free to contact Annie Cesta at this same email address or you can call her at the office at 213-341-1061.

In the coming weeks, The AVent Techs, LLC will be launching a new scheduling software program called “Lasso” and you will be asked to sign up on that platform so we can interact with all of you regarding scheduling you for future events.  The new program will also allow you to put your availability on a calendar, so we know when you are and aren’t available, as well as allow you to clock in and out via a mobile app on future gigs so that you won’t need to submit time sheets any longer.  We are excited to be working with this new program and hope that you’ll take advantage of all the new features that it has to offer.

If you have received this email but haven’t done work yet for The AVent Techs, it is because we have your contact info in our system as a result of you submitting your resume or by being referred by someone.   We will hopefully have the opportunity to work with you in the near future.

I will not be one of the new owners myself, but I will remain in the position of General Manager, and I’m thrilled to be working with the new owners as the company grows and expands into the future.  We look forward to all of you being a part of that growth!

And finally, Tim Rodriquez, Marcus Welch, Fabian Silva and Annie Cesta in our Los Angeles office, Bill Lasky in Las Vegas, Ryan Tremblay in Boston and Kevin Seeger in DC are all still here and excited about the new company.  On behalf of all of them, they welcome you to The AVent Techs, LLC.

Thank you for taking the time to read this important update!

The Bad, Eddie Abdalla, The Ugly, Stealing Money from Clients

Eddie is no angel. He pilfered money from clients at The Crew Source and when he left a mile high debt in its wake, with millions of dollars in debt and a bankruptcy, he started The Avent Techs Corporation. And, he’s driven that right into the ground, I am told. he changed the name to The Avent Techs LLC – LIKE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

People are smart. I can’t imagine existing clients going with him in his new scam adventure. FOR POTENTIALLY NEW CLIENTS, perhaps give it another thought. I found some pretty damming evidence online about what a crook Eddie and his merry thieves are. Take a peek before booking an event with The Avent Techs.

EVIDENCE

Is The Avent Techs Legit or Circling the Drain?

As a former client of The Crew Source, I remember paying handsomely for a service I never received and later came to learn that The Crew Source, run by Eddie (Edward Abdalla) was nothing more than a fucking scam. If he screwed me, he screwed others.

This guy is a creep to the core. Under one company, he flagrantly stole funds from clients and amassed a huge fortune that he refused to pay, and therefore owes millions of dollars! His debts are enormous. He doesn’t care. I’ve spoken to him about recouping my money and he talks down to me and basically proclaims that I’m an idiot who doesn’t know anything.

Then he started The Avent Techs Corporation. When that when down in flames and he left a trail of debt behind, he turned The Avent Techs into an LLC. Is he going to do the same thing? I don’t know. Speaking for myself, there is no way that I will trust him again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME.

BE CAREFUL, FOLKS. Eddie is running the show at The Avent Techs LLC. I can’t imagine he now has good intentions.

Thanks to a Good Samaritan, I can tell my story

I have been in the corporate events industry for years. I love my job so much: multi-tasking multiple events, coordinating countless schedules and admiring the fruits of our collective labors; it was a dream come true!

Unfortunately, my dream became a nightmare. This almost cost me my job of 12-years. Armed with new information, I don’t want other account executives, corporate event planners, or anyone else to suffer what I did.

A while back a colleague referred me to The Crew Source for events we were holding. Instead of going with my proven providers, I decided to give them a try, and they gave me a 15% discount. I knew my boss would appreciate that a lot, especially because the event was 40K.

I connected with Eddie Abdalla. He was really nice and very professional. I thought for sure this guy was going to do a fantastic job. He was referred by someone I knew and he was a real charmer on the phone. Convinced I was in good hands, I gave him the job. Contracts were signed and a check was sent to The Crew Source.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, I stood in a massive ballroom that was supposed to be transformed into an elaborate and elegant setting for an awards ceremony. One hour into waiting, I called Eddie. No answer. So, I called the company, NO ANSWER. I started to panic when a technician walked in and asked me my name. I gave it to him and asked if the rest of his crew was with him. TO MY FACE HE SAID, “No. Eddie wanted me to tell you that you need to pay another 25K if you want his crew to work your event.

SAY WHAT?!

That’s extortion and insanity, I yelled. I continued calling Eddie. Two hours in, I called the police. There was nothing they could do. The event never happened. People who traveled thousands of miles were sent home. My company looked foolish and unprofessional. I was reprimanded and told that one more mistake of this magnitude and nature, and I was going to lose my job.

WHY AM I TELLING YOU THIS?

TCS (The Crew Source was run by Eddie. He ran it into the ground and had massive legal problems and still owes millions of dollars. He started The Avent Techs corporation and ran that into the ground with a whole new set of unpaid bills and debts to companies. NOW, he’s changed to The Avent Techs LLC. He’s going to do the same thing he’s been doing!!! Who knows how many clients will shell out thousands only to lose money and have no event?! You just know those legal problems and money he owes will come back to haunt him because he keeps doing the same thing!

MY ADVICE TO YOU, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE AVENT TECHS. NEVER USE THEM.
